no easy answer
In the book no easy answers on chapter eight it talks about Eric a main character who took part in the attack on the Columbine school. I don't not understand way the police did not take his threatening web page serous. On his web page he talked about how he vandalized property and how he wanted to kill everyone he didn't like in the school. He also talked about his old friend Brooks brown, and how he wanted to hurt him for telling on him. Brooks told his parents that he throw a rock at his car and broke the windshield. He also told his parents and the police about his web page. They both sad they would handle it. The police and his parents did nothing. This is what i believe could have stopped the columbine killing. If the police and his parents took the matter serous this would have never happen. This just shows how ablivous are communtiy and country is.

I agree that this could have all been prevented. Just like in Deerfield, parents here think that their kids are all perfect and that they would never do anything bad. Most of the times it's when the parents ignore the problem the most, is when the kids lash out at society and sometimes take to extreme meausures like the kids that performed the shootings. Same goes with the police. I think that back then it was different because technology wasn't as big of a hit so that's why the police didn't do anything about it because it would be too much work and effort to look into just another "angry" kid. But these days I believe that if the police found a website like that, that they would get involved.
ReplyDeleteIf the police acually researched that web page and watched eric this could have never happened mikey
